Plea for Parents to Invest More in their Children Education
A quality education has the power to change the life of any person, any community, and the future of any country. That is why the Communication Officer for Go Ye Ministries Liberia USA Incorporated, Mr. Edward W. Blamo issued a challenge to the parents of the Slakpawein Village Academy in Margibi County to secure the future of their children by investing more in their education.
Mr. Blamo was the guest speaker at the school’s first closing and thanksgiving service held on July 22 nd , 2022. The Liberian media professional reminded parents the value of education and urged them to seize the opportunity provided by ensuring that their kids remain in school and are kept tidy. He said, “you have an opportunity to educate your children at little cost to you and you must seize it”.
Mr. Blamo also told the gathering that “education when harnessed, has the power to change the life of any child for the better. That is why we want our children to become better citizens, get a better-paid job in the future, and understand the difference between good and bad; we need to invest more time in educating them”.
Reflecting on his previous experience with the school, Edward reported that he remembers a group of about 15 kids clustered in a congested church building in desperate need of renovation with only one instructor. But, despite all these challenges, Mr. Blamo says he saw kids smiling, eager to learn.
That experience gave Edward hope for the future. He explained that the hope he felt shows there is a light at the end of the tunnel. He said he is hopeful that one day, the learning environment will be much better.
Today, that dream is gradually becoming a reality right before our eyes. “We have a new school structure built through the support of The Board of Directors and partners including the Kids Education Empowerment Program (KEEP), the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia Her Excellency Madam Jewel Howard Taylor, and individual donors of the Go Ye Ministries Liberia USA”.
Go Ye Ministries is a Christian movement founded by Liberian and American missionaries with a vision to connect churches in Liberia with churches and organizations from the US and around the world, to provide training to leaders and lay people, and to plant and disciple churches in unreached areas.
The Slakpawein Village Academy is one of the Go Ye Ministries Liberia USA Incorporated school projects. It is Go Ye Ministries mission to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ through the provision of a quality education for hundreds of underprivileged kids in Liberia.
