February 2021 Go Ye L Newsletter

Beloved Family & Friends:

2021 marks 200 years of US freed-slaves, African Americans being obedient to Jesus’ commandment to “Go, make disciples…(Matthew 28:19-20).” George Liele was born in Virginia in 1752 as a slave. He was converted in 1773, freed in 1778 and became America’s first missionary 10 years before William Carey. Liele preached in Virginia, Georgia and Jamaica; 8000 members in church planting. Lott Carey, a freed slave from Virginia and others established Providence Baptist Church and Liberia in 1821. Over 5,000 US freed slaves made Liberia home. This became Africa’s first black independent nation. Liberia’s first 10 Presidents were African-Americans. This year marks 200 years of taking the Gospel to Liberia, praying, giving and going around the world! In celebration, please see below!
